Badho Bahu is an Indian television serial that was launched on 12th September 2016 on & TV. This is a romantic drama that is aired everyday from Monday to Friday. & TV has been running many successful serials and this is the latest serial in its kitty. The plot of the serial revolves around a simple girl named Komal who wants to marry and settle down in life like any other normal girl. The problem is that she is overweight and her obese figure has become a major impediment in her life. Komal is betrayed by a groom who refuses to marry her at the last moment due to her obesity. Her dream of getting married is however fulfilled when she gets hitched to Lakhan Singh Ahlawat. Lakhan Singh is a handsome wrestler with big dreams and ambitions. He is married off to Komal by his father much against his wishes. Komal is known as the Badho Bahu of the house which means big daughter in law after her marriage to Lakhan Singh. The serial is all about the relationship between the unusual couple and the challenges faced by Komal. The concept of the serial is similar to the Bollywood movie Dum Laga Ke Haisha but the story line is not entirely similar to the movie.
The serial has been produced by Sunny Side Up and Hum Tum Tele Films Private Limited owned by DiptiKalwani, TeenaSwayam and Sushant Kumar. The series has been created and written by DiptiKalwani. The lead role of Komal is being played by the newbie actress RytashaRathore. As of now, the serial has completed seventy episodes. 1. Rytasha Rathore as Komal
Rytasha Rathore plays the role of the female protagonist Komal. Komal is an overweight girl who is married to a good looking wrestler. She is a sweet and simple girl who is devoid of any great desires but wants to lead a normal life with her husband. Rytasha Rathore is making her television debut in this serial. She is a theatre actress who started her career in Mumbai with two plays, The Hound of Baskervilles and The Merchant of Venice. Rytasha Rathore has acted in the play based on Shakespeare’s As You Like it which was directed by Rajat Kapoor. She has the experience of working with many famous theatre personalities such as Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Akash Khurana and many more. She was selected for this role in Badho Bahuafter an audition.
2. Prince Narula as Lakhan Singh Ahlawat
Prince Narula is portraying the role of Lakhan Singh Ahlawat. Lakhan Singh is a handsome wrestler who has become the unwilling husband of the overweight Komal due to his father who has hitched her to him against his wishes. Prince Narula is a model and was the second runner up in the PTC Punjabi Mr Punjab 2014. He won the twelfth edition of the popular stunt reality show aired on MTV India called MTV Roadies in the year 2015. He also won the title of “Ultimate Roadie” in June 2015. Splitsvilla is another reality show on MTV in which he emerged winner. Prince Narula is also the winner of the 9th season of the popular reality show Big Boss. Badho Bahu is the first television serial in which he is playing the male lead.
3. Pankaj Dheer as Raghuveer Ahlawat
Pankaj Dheer plays the role of Raghuveer Ahlawat, the father of Lakhan Singh Ahlawat and the family patriarch. Pankaj Dheer was highly acclaimed for his portrayal of Karnain the famous epic serial Mahabharata produced by B.R. Chopra. He has also acted in the TV series Chandrakanta where he played the role of Shivadatta. Pankaj Dheer made his debut with the 1993 television series on Zee TV named Dastak where he played the lead character alongside Archana Puran Singh. He appeared in the role of a defence lawyer in the serial Kanoonwhich was a court room drama. Other serials where he has played a role include Sasural Simadka, Rishtey, Teen Bahuraniyan, Shobha Somnathki, Devon kedev Mahadev, Rang Badalti Odhni, etc. Dheer runs an acting academy in Mumbai by the name of Abhinay Acting Academy.
