Sony Entertainment Television is one of the popular Television channels in India, which airs, reality shows, game shows and soap operas. Beyhadh, is a relatively new drama in the romantic thriller genre, televised by Sony Entertainment Television and the Sony Entertainment Television Asia. It started on 11th October 2016 and about 49 episodes have been aired as on 16th December 2016.
The story revolves around Maya a business tycoon, who owns the company, Fashion and The City, who lives in an unstable family environment and is a sociopath and an insomniac mainly because of her dad, Ashwin. Arjun works as a photographer in Maya’s company and has a friend Saanjh, who is a lawyer. Arjun and Saanjh’s families, too, get along very well and Saanjh nurtures a secret love for Arjun. Saanjh handles a case for Maya’s Company and Arjun handles the company’s campaign with Maya and names the coverstory Beyhadh. Maya too loves Arjun and she warns Saanjh, not to cross their paths, indirectly. Maya proposes to Arjun, he does not answer. He is confused as to how to reject the proposal, as he has been given a promotion and a cabin of his own by Maya.
Beyhadh, is based on the story by Ritika Bajaj Vijra and the screenplay is done by Shilpa F D’Mello and directed by Vikram V. Labhe. The lead roles are played by Kushal Tandon, Jenifer Winget and Aneri Vajeri.
1. Jennifer Winget – Maya Mehrotra
We do not get to see the lead lady doing a negative role in Television shows. Beyhadh is the drama that transgresses from the other serials, usually revolving around Saas Bahu relationships. This drama is said to be inspired by Gone Girl. Jennifer Winget, plays the role of Maya Mehrotra a business woman, who runs a business house called Fashion and The city and would go to any extent to fulfil her wishes. From the trailers of this show, one can understand that she would play the role of an obsessive lover, well. Beyhadh is gaining attention as this is the comeback serial of Jennifer Winger after her appearance in Saraswati chandra, in which she acted opposite Gautam Rode which ended in 2014. People seemed to like the pair. She looks good with Kushal as well. She is the most loved, TV star in the social media. Jennifer is a committed actress. It can be understood from the fact that, inspite of having a fear of heights, she acted a scene on a hot air balloon.
2. Kushal Tandon – Arjun Sharma
Kushal plays the role of Arjun Sharma in Beyhadh. He dons the role of a photographer, who successfully handles campaign, Junoon for Maya’s business house. He is left with no choice, but to accept the proposal of Maya. But he does not love her. He is supposed to be playing two diverse and complex characters in the serial Beyhad, in which he is playing a double role for the first time. He believes that he would be able to showcase his versatility as an actor in this show. Kushal Tandon, the model -turned actor is also the first runner-up of Grasim Mr.India contest in 2005. He has done an acting course in the US and is known for the role of Virat Singh Vadhera in the serial Ek Hazaaron Mei Meri Behna Hai and won the Indian Telly Award for the best new face –male for the same.He has participated in shows like Nach Baliye 5 and Bigg Boss 7 as a contestant and eager to enter the Bigg Boss house once again. He ranks as the 6th among UK magazine’s 50 sexiest Asian men.
3. Aneri Vajani – Lawyer Saanjh
She plays the role of Saanjh, who is alawyer and she is secretly in love with her family friend Arjun. She sports a new look in Beyhad and is pleased to be a part of the cast. She has played the lead role in Nisha Aur Uske Cousins. She is a good friend of Khushal off- screen as well, which accounts for their chemistry on-screen. She started her career as, Shanaya on Channel V’s youth show.
The awesome three, are ably supported by the Supporting Cast in the show. They make the show,Beyhad, a not- to- miss show, during the weekdays.
