How to Apply RTI Online In any Govt. Office/Department in Delhi

RTI is also called Right to Information and it is one of the fundamental rights provided to the citizens of India by Constitution of India. Under this provision, the Indian citizen can demand any information under public domain. The information will be shared with the public if the information is not confidential. For example, the information regarding the defense sector may not be shared with the public. An RTI can be filed to obtain information about almost everything. For example, some people may file RTI to know about the salary of the Prime Minister and some may file an RTI to know about the spending of the government. The reason for filing the RTI can be unique and at the same time, the public also gets an accurate answer for the RTI filled. The only eligibility criteria to file an RTI is that the person should be a citizen of India.

Steps to Apply Right to Information through Online Medium

To apply for a Right to Information follow the steps mentioned below.

Step1: The government of India has a centralized portal which can be used by anyone in India to apply for an RTI. The applicant can access the portal by visiting the site https://www.rtionline.gov.in/index.php or the applicant can simply click here to access the site.

Step2: Now, to submit an RTI, the applicant would require to click on Submit Request Button on the top navigation bar. This will display the guidelines for using the RTI Online Portal. The applicant should carefully go through the instructions provided. Once the instructions have been read, the applicant can check the box at the bottom of the page and then click on submit button. This will display the RTI Form.

Step3: Now, to begin with, the applicant can select the ministry or the department and then the applicant can select the public authority to which RTI is being directed to.

Step4: In the next step, the applicant can fill his personal details like his number, gender, address, educational qualification and contact number. The contact number should be correct as the applicant will receive the SMS alerts on the mobile number. The applicant is also required to enter his mobile number.

Step5: To proceed with the form, the applicant needs to enter the information if he is below the poverty line or not. Once this has been done, the applicant can mention the information about the RTI in the message box and the applicant may also choose to attach the documents.

If the applicant is below the poverty line, the fee for the RTI is 0 whereas if the applicant is above the poverty line, the fee for filing an RTI is Rs 10. The fee can be paid using Net Banking, Credit Card and Debit Card.Once all these steps have been taken care of, the applicant can now proceed to make the payment. Once the payment is made, a registration number will be generated and the applicant is required to save the registration number for future reference.
