Produced by Urban Brew Studios, Dance Plus is one of the biggest competitive dance shows of the country. Broadcasted on Star Plus, the series is hosted and presented by Raghav Juyal. Among the judges were seen Dharmesh Yelande, Shakti Mohan, Punit Pathak and Salman Yusuf Khan along with one Super Judge Remo D’Souza, a well known choreographer and director in Bollywood. Beginning in July 2015, the television series till now has witnessed 6 seasons. The exact date of 7th season one is also expected to release soon.
Format
In each season, there are three mentors and one Super Judge. Each mentor has his/her own team comprising of contestants shortlisted from the auditions. In every episode, some or all contestants of a team participate and compete with each other. After a series of scoring, voting and eliminations, the team retaining maximum of its participants at the end is declared as the winner.
In both the seasons till now, Team Dharmesh has been the winner. Nevertheless, for the runner-ups too, the show offers a big platform to name and fame in the industry.
Eligibility Criteria to Apply for Dance Plus
1. Age Limit
All candidates 14+ years old at the time of registration are eligible to participate.
2. Nationality
Indian
3. Documents Required
You must have valid Photo ID Proofs and Nationality Proofs for registering for the auditions.
4. Dance Style
All dance niches and styles are welcomed in the show. Also, you can chose to perform solo, duet or even in a group.
Registration
Registration is carried out on the spot of auditions. The venue of auditions is usually taken to be 10 to 16 urban cities. The cities are selected in such a way that people from each nook and corner of the country are well connected and can reach some or the other city conveniently. Upon reaching the venue, the registration forms are signed on the spot by the applicants. You can also read or download the form filling instructions online at http://www.hotstar.com/tv/dance-/4679.
1st Round
Applicants then have to deliver short dance performances in front of the three judges. Judges can play the stop buzzer or keep viewing the performance as per their judgements. Each dance performance is judged on the basis of its style, choreography, originality and of course, passion. These auditions are carried out between May and October every year. This year too, they are expected to release the venue and schedule details by May or June. They will be updated soon here as well.
2nd Round
The participants shortlisted in the first round here perform in front of the show’s Super Judge Remo D’Souza. This is the most crucial round as it’s in this round only that your fortune stands in the middle of Yes and No.
3rd Round
Followed by the 2nd round, the contestants shortlisted are then divided into three teams mentored by each of the judges.
In the end, only 3 candidates will be left in the Grand Finale. The team with majority of the contestants will be declared as the winner. The winner receives 25 lacs prize money, a car and a winning career.
