Tagore’s Early Life
Tagore was born in a Bengali family in 1861 and was the youngest child amongst 14 children, the name of Tagore’s father was Debendra nath Tagore and his mother’s name was Sarada Devi. Tagore was by birth a Bengali Brahmin with his nickname “Rabi” “Robi”.
Tagore’s imagination world bestowed him with talent to compose poem at very early age as he composed his first poem at 8 years Old age and the persona to write poems about things around and the state of India under British rule were his inspiration to write poems.
In February 1873 when Tagore was just 11 Years Old, Tagore went with his father for a tour composing all over India. He covered parts of Amritsar in Punjab with Dalhousie and Himalayan range as part of his journey ended in Shantiniketan his father’s estate. Rabindra nath Tagore started his learning at the place unlike other students going to school for learning subjects.
Tagore was surrounded with no. of teachers specialized in several subjects that helped him to strongly beloved with Indian literature and moreover a special place in his heart for Bengali writings and also a great interest in English Literature.
During his stay at the place Tagore wrote a beautiful poem in Maithili ( the language used by people of Mithila) Tagore used structuring of the poem in famous Vidyapati style.
Tagore’s Achievements
Tagore went back in 1901 to Shantiniketan and build an Ashram there to stay away from severe losses and oppression s of British Government as well as he wants to contribute well for India’s Independence for that he encouraged people to not let themselves settle for British India’s victimization, he wrote many Bengali poems to establish youth against British.
Tagore’s wife and children died in Shantiniketan after 3 to 4 years stay in Ashram, Tagore after the severe loss utilized spare time to teach people around in Bengali and other languages with patriotism in heart for freedom and become famous with name GURUDEV.
Spending more days equipped with books and creations Tagore started earning income as part of his legacy, a well-produced work in literature honored him with royalties also he established his readership amongst Bengali readers as he was the best-served writer in Bengali. Tagore’s literary work was so famous by the time as people encouraged him to get his work translated into the set of readers in Hindi and English Language to appreciate his piece of writing and a well-established readership.
Rabindra nath Tagore was the First ever Asian personality to won a Noble Prize in Literature he won that for his famous poem freestyle verse Gitanjali in 1913 and till date, no one else has won greatest literature award in India after Tagore. The Swedish academy chosen his work for the honorable prize with few translated lines served to them in 1912.
After winning the greatest award in Literature under the leadership of British Culture in India, the British Government honored Tagore with a knighthood in 1915 but Tagore’s firm determination to not go the violent way encouraged the honorable man to give back the honor offered after a coward act of General Dyer in Jaliawala Bagh Massacre in Amritsar. Jaliawala Bagh incident is scripted as one of the brutal killings of Indians as British army shoots non-weapon troops protesting in peace.
Tagore’s novel partially called his autobiography well known as Ghar-Bhaire and in English, The Home and The World beautifully portrayed peacefully and hatred way to accomplish freedom is chosen to be a prominent studying option as part of Indian Literature students.
Tagore Towards End
Living a peaceful life in Shantiniketan away from politics and social discrimination, Tagore was against politics way and comments of Mahatma Gandhi as he strongly condemned against his comment that Earthquake is a way to punish people for practicing Castism.
During this period Tagore wrote a fifteen volume long prose poem that covered mainly different aspects and part of Human life. A great scholar also Tagore wrote many essays based on science mainly with knowledge about biology and astronomy.
Tagore spent a couple of years towards his end in pain and sickness, he lost his consciousness during the time and was in Coma for a long period but whenever he came to conscious state he utilizes time to wrote poems. Tagore died on 7 August 1941 at the age 80.
