Tirupati is one of the famous cities of the district Chittoor in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is also known as the city of Gods as according to some legend, it was the place which Lord Vishnu had chosen an alternative to Vaikuntha. It is considered one of the holiest places because of the location of the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in it. Tirupati is not only famous due to its religious importance but also it is famous because it is the home to many historical temples, educational institutions and universities. Besides this Balaji Temple is one of the most visited temples at India and all the devotees even from the overseas get there to offer prayers and seek blessings of God.

History of Tirupati

Tirupati had gained its historic importance when Lord Sri Ram got residence with Sita Devi when they returned from Lankapuri. But the real town was established around the 5th century. This is one of the cities of India that have survives during the Muslim and British invasions. But there was no actual settlement in Tirupati till 1500 Century. But after 1500 AD, the town of Tirupati began to be localized and initially it was named as Kotturu.

In the year of 1932, Tirupati started to gain its present day form and the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple was handed over to Tirupati and that is the reason now why it has gained so much popularity.

Best Time to Visit Tirupati & its attractions

It is said that there is no good time visit the religious places and temples however in Tirupati, the best time to visit is to get there in the months of winter that starts from November to March. To visit Tirupati except these months would rather go sweaty as the months of May and June gets extremely hot and the mercury knows knew bound in these months in Tirupati. There are also many places in Tirupati that finds most attractions during the winter seasons. These attractions include:

  • Kapilatheertham: another famous temple that has got millions of tourists to visit because of its organized Darshan process.
  • Swami Pushkarni Lake: this is the lake that lies in the holy grounds of Thirumala Venkateswara Temple.This lake is of great importance because it is believed that Venkateswara Lord had taken bath in this lake.
  • Silathoranam: one of the beautiful blessings to the city of Tirupati is the Silathoranam that is the natural bridge that is found in Asia.
