When you plan on visiting the Golden Temple, you can set aside a day for sightseeing. The temple visit will take you a while unless you plan an early morning visit. After the visit you can head to the museum in the temple which has some of the oldest and most important monuments in the Sikh religion. You can also head to the ‘Langar’ which is a free meal provided by the temple all day long.

After visiting the temple, you can take a five minute walk to the Jallianwala Bagh. This is a place of historical importance to Indians where the British opened fire on the Indians who had gathered there for a procession.

The Mata Temple which is an important temple for hindus too is in close proximity, so you can visit these three places in a day if you plan it well.

Best Time To Visit

If you want to make the most out of your visit in Amritsar, make sure you choose the right time. While the winters here are very harsh, the summers too aren’t comfortable. In winters the temperatures drop as low as 5 degrees C and in summers they can shoot up to 40 degrees C. The best climate in this city is during the months of October and March.
