Balasore
About
The district of Balasore is one of the ancient places that was initially part of Kalinga. It was later ruled by the Marathas during 1750. IT was then a part of Shah Jahan dynasty till 1640. It was during this time that the first ever English factory was established. Balasore is the birthplace of popular novelist Fakir Mohan Senapati who is believed to be the savior of modern Odia language. He is also a well known freedom fighter.
Things To Do
Balasore is a great place to visit with your family. There are a number of things you can do here including some amazing temple visits. The Langaleswar temple is a famous place for Lord Shiva and a number of people gather here each year to pay their respects to the God. This temple is located near the Parvati River and it is a beautiful sight to see. Apart from Langaleswar, there are also some other temples you can visit which include Khirachora Gopinath, Bhudharchandi and Baleshwar. The Baleshwar temple is the main temple in this district which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. IT is a beautifully stone carved temple that represents South Indian architecture. There are also some amazing beaches that you can visit. These include Chandipur and Balaramgadi to name a few. The Talasari beach too is a great place to visit with your family for a peaceful evening.
Best Time To Visit
Balasore is situated in the state of Odisha which is known to receive heavy rainfall. The monsoon arrives between June to September and this is not the best time to visit the district since it will be tough to move around in these weather conditions. The summers here are harsh and if you’re not a fan of the heat, then do not visit Balasore during the summers which are between March to May. The ideal time to visit Balasore is during the winters which are between the months of October to February.
