Nicobar means ‘the land of the naked’ which is what the tribal’s here are referred to as. Andaman and Nicobar Islands were inhabited by Japanese for a long time during the World War II till 1947 when India gained Independence and acquired the islands.

Best Time To Visit

The islands have a tropical temperature that doesn’t change much all year around. You can thus plan a visit during any time of the year. However, if you’re more of an outdoor person and you want to experience snorkeling and other water activities here, it is best to avoid visiting during the rains. The islands receive rainfall twice a year, once during May to September and then again in November and December. The best time to visit is between May and October.
