Ayudha Puja 2021 Date, Time, Shubh Muhurat Timing

Ayudha Puja is one of the important fragments of the Navratri festival of Hindus that is celebrated in every region of India. This famous festival is also renowned as the “Astra Puja”, (the alternative word for Ayudha Puja) that also means “Worship of Tools”. Ayudha Puja is celebrated in the state of Karnataka as “Ayudha Puje”, in Kerala known as Ayudha Puja, in A.P (Andhra Pradesh) it is celebrated as the Aayudha Pooja, in Orissa as “Astra Puja”, as well as in the state of Tamil Nadu known as “Ayudha Pujai”.

This festival comes on the 9th day of the Navratri or the Navmi tithi. It is also traditionally part of the Dusshera or Durga Puja or Navratri or Golu festival. When the Dusshera ten-day festival comes, people worship their tools and weapons on the ninth day. In the state of Karnataka, people enjoy this day as the celebration of an assassination of the wizard monarch Mahishasura by the deity Chamundeshwari. From the time when this demon king dies, the weapons used for his death were worshiped by the people. In India, most of the people celebrated this day as one of the Navratri festivals but in the south India, this day is famous as Ayudha Puja and has rejoiced differently in every region.

Traditionally “Ayudha Puja” was intended to worship the weapons but nowadays all kinds of tools and instruments are worshiped on this day. In the Southern region of India, on this day the craftsmen worship their instruments and tools just similar to what is done in the Vishwakarma Puja in other regions of India.

As the time is changing more rapidly, Ayudha Puja has turn into Vahana Puja also in which some people worship their automobiles comprising of scooters, cars, and motorcycles, etc. In the Vahana Puja, all types of vehicles that used by people are ornamented with garlands, vermilion, banana sapling and mango leaves and then they are worshiped by the owners. One more important thing that happens at the time of Vahana Puja is that a white pumpkin also has to be ornamented with turmeric as well as vermilion and broken on the front side of the vehicle as a tradition which signifies getting free from the bad evils.

In the South India,the maximum number of calendars statesthe Saraswati Puja accompanied by the Ayudha Puja. But,as per our ancient Dharma Shastras and books, the Saraswati Puja in the course of Navratri is recommended to be celebrated in the Purva Ashadha Nakshatra.
