How to Apply for Passport Online in Delhi – Complete Registration Details

Passport is a travel document that is issued by the government of every country. The passport enables the person to travel to a different country and it is actually a mandatory document which is required by the person to travel outside his country. The person also needs to take prior approval for visiting some of the countries and this prior approval is called a VISA. The passport is marked with a VISA stamp and the stamp displays the expiry date of the VISA as well. The passport application process has been automated and it is now possible to apply for the passport through online medium. The offline medium has been eliminated and it is compulsory for an applicant to apply for a new passport. In addition to this, the fee for passport application has been increased from Rs 1000 to Rs 1500. How to Apply for Passport in Delhi

Step1: As mentioned earlier, the government has eliminated the offline procedure and hence the person can apply for passport only through an online medium. The steps to apply for the passport are mentioned below

Step2: The first step is to navigate to Passport Seva Online Portal. You can visit the portal by clicking here. Once the portal has been displayed, click on Register Now button on the homepage of the portal. This will take you to the registration page of the portal.


Step3: On the registration page, enter the basic details required and then submit the form. This step will register you for the application process.

Step4: Now the next step is to Login to the Passport Seva Online Portal with the user ID which you created in the last step. Once you have logged in, a dashboard will be displayed.

Step5: From the dashboard, click on Apply for Fresh Passport button. This will display a form that needs to be submitted by you. The form has various steps which would require you to enter the personal details, details of references and other such details. Once you have entered all the details, you can submit the form.

Step6: Now go back to the dashboard and click on View Saved/Submitted application and click on Pay and Schedule appointment. Follow the steps mentioned on the screen to schedule an appointment and then make a payment. You can now take the printout of the application form and the payment receipt.

The passport will be issued in 14 to 21 days after the police verification.
