IPL Winners List of All Seasons: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15

IPL, which stands for Indian Premier League, is one of the most popular cricketing events in India, which is awaited and watched all over the country and the world by avid cricket fans every year. The event, which was started in 2008 by the BCCI, is played in T20 format of the game and is contested between franchisee teams from various cities, which are currently eight in number. Commercially, it is one of the most successful and lucrative sporting events in the country, with its brand value reaching a whopping US $ 3.2 billion. Till date, fourteen IPL events have been organized in India and the 15th one will start soon in 2022.

Here is a list of winners or champions of all IPL seasons played till 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 years:

Season 1 (2008)

Season 1 of IPL was played in 2008 and sponsored by DLF. Out of the eight teams which participated in the event, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings reached the finale and the title was lifted by Rajasthan Royals.

Season 2 (2009)

Season 2

IPL Season 2 was played in 2009 in South Africa due to general elections taking place in India at that time of the year. The event featured eight prominent franchisee teams, out of whom Deccan Chargers won the final by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Season 3 (2010)

Season 3

Season 3 of IPL was again organized in India in 2010 and this time, it was broadcast on YouTube live. In the finals, Mumbai Indians were beaten by Chennai Super kings, who lifted the trophy for the first time in the event.

Season 4 (2011)

Season 4

IPL Season 4 was organized in 2011 and saw two new teams making an entry into the event- Kochi Tuskers Kerala and Pune Warriors India, which took the number of participant teams to 10. Chennai Super Kings became the champion two times in a row, by beating Royal Challengers Bangalore to win the cup.

Season 5 (2012)

Season 5

Season 5 of IPL was held in 2012 and Chennai Super kings reached the finale yet again, contesting against Kolkata Knight Riders. However, CSK was not able to continue its winning spree this year and eventually, the title was bagged by KKR.

Season 6 (2013)

Season 6

Season 6 of IPL came in 2013 and this year, the sponsorship of the tournament was taken over from DLF by Pepsi. This year, the final was won by Mumbai Indians, who beat Chennai Super Kings in an entertaining final match. It also saw the retirement of the legendary player Sachin Tendulkar from IPL.

Season 7 (2014)

IPL 7 was partly played in UAE and the rest in India, due to Lok Sabha Elections of 2014. In the final, Kolkata Knight Riders contested against Kings XI Punjab and beat the latter in a thrilling match.

Season 8 (2015)

Mumbai Indians

The season 8 of IPL was started on 8th April, 2015 and the finale was played on 24th May, 2015. Mumbai Indians wins the title tag of IPL 2015 by defeating Chennai Super Kings team.

Season 9 (2016)

One of the most entertaining T20 cricket tournament The Indian Premiere League (IPL) 9th Season has been started from 9th April 2016 and the finale was played on 29th May 2016. There are 8 teams participating in this tournament.

The finale was played between Sunrisers hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore. In which Sunrisers hyderabad beats the RCB by 8 runs and win the tournament.

Season 10 (2017)

Mumbai Indians

The Indian Premiere League (IPL) Season 10 2017 is going to be aired from 5-April-2017 and the final match was played on 21-May-2017. There are total 8 team was participated in the tournament. All matches were played in India. The winner of the season 10 was Mumbai Indians they beat pune team by 1 run in the finale.

Season 11 (2018)

The IPL 2018 was hosted from 7 April to 27 May, and it was hosted in India. There were a total of 8 teams that participated in IPL Season 11, and they played 60 matches. It was a full dose of entertainment. The interesting thing about the 2018 IPL was the return of Rajasthan Royals & Chennai Super Kings. The teams were banned for two years. The final match of the tournament was between Chennai Super Kings & Sunrisers Hyderabad. What started with the batting of Chennai Super Kings ended up with the victory of the same team. It was one of the best IPL in the history of the tournaments.

Season 12 (2019)

Season 12 came with a slight twist. During the planning, many countries were considered to host the match because of the general elections, but eventually, the series was hosted in India. In this tournament as well, eight teams participated, and they played a total of 60 matches. Season 12 of IPL also lead to the postponement of India’s opening match in the 2019 World Cup. In this series, the Delhi Daredevils was renamed to Delhi Capitals. This season of the IPL was hosted from 23 March to 12 May. The final match was played between the last year’s champion Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. It was a very stressful match, and Mumbai Indians won the match by just one run.

Season 13 (2020)

The 2020 Season of the IPL was supposed to start on 29 March, but the fans were left with a disappointment as the matches were suspended because of covid-19. Later, it was decided that the tournament will be hosted in Dubai from 19 September to 10 November. Planners added some safety rules to the series. The players were not allowed to use saliva to shine the ball, the matches were hosted without the audience, captains were not allowed to shake hands after the toss, and teams could replace the players if someone tested covid positive. The final of Season 13 was played between Delhi Capitals & Mumbai Indians. Delhi gave a target of 157, and Mumbai was able to complete the chase in 18.4 overs with a loss of 5 wickets.

Season 14 (2021)

This is the 14th seasons of IPL, and it is being played in India. The dates of the tournament are 9 April to 30 April. In this season, Kings XI Punjab has been renamed as Punjab Kings, and Vivo also stepped in again as the sponsor. This year, people had many hopes from Royal Challengers Bangalore, and you will surely be happy to know that the team has won all four matches until now.
