Mohammad Rafi was a legendary singer who can be called the greatest in the history of the Indian cinema because of his amazing voice quality, range and versatility. He was born on 24th December, 1924 in a village near Amritsar in Punjab and began his singing career in 1944, with countless unforgettable songs to his credit. During his illustrious singing career in the industry, Rafi bagged countless awards and honors including the prestigious National Award and the Padma Shri, which came in 1967. His career came to a halt with his death in 1980 and it was the biggest loss to the Indian cinema.
